The Beatles - Who was with it and who wasn't

Young women hiked up their skirts as high as they could go and traded in the bouffant beehive hair-do for the mod' look, inspired by British fashion queen Mary Quant. Brylcreemed short-back-and sides hair, shapeless sports coat and grey strides were the last things the male mod would be seen wearing. There was longer hair for men, and black velvet jackets, brown corduroy trousers and Chelsea boots were popping up in trendy Auckland shops. Television began broadcasts in 1960. The world crowded into more and more New Zealand lounges. In 1961 there were fewer than 5000 TV licences; two years later there were over 80 000. The sole channel broadcast for just 50 hours a week in the mid-1960s, and much of the fare was pretty staid', but novelty value was high. The box' introduced many older New Zealanders to the Beatles when a TV special about the band was shown just weeks before the tour.

People that hated the Beatles were against them because They hated the fact that The Beatles preached about peace and love but they were so violent on the other side of production. Most people found it weird and unnormal

What is important to you right now?

Whanau & Friends

What are your goals for learning ENGLISH this year?

Learn how to become a better writer by the end of the year

What would help you achieve your goals in English?

Not peer pressuring me and letting me take my time in what im doing cause peer pressuring me will make me not want to do what im doing and just believe in myself.

  • What do YOU need to do to achieve these goals?
  • Take my time and do it at my own paste.

  • What could the teacher do to help you achieve your goals?
  • Not peer pressuring me so I can get it done at my own speed so I won't have to stress on what time I have to be finished by.

  • What could the class / your peers do to help you achieve your goals?
  • Communicate with me and not disagreeing to anything or anyone.

  • What could YOU do to improve learning conditions for others in this class?
  • Listen and don't talk when the teachers are talking, And not sitting with people im close with because I will get distracted easily and go off task.

Science Blog - #2

Aim: To observe a neutralization reaction.

Equipment: A test tube, test tube rack, 1 mol L-1 Na2CO3 (sodium carbonate), 1 mol L-1 HCI (hydrochloride acid), dropper or dropper bottle, Universal indicator solution.

Method for neutralization:

- Get a test tube rack, b test tubes, acid, base and universal indicator.

- Fill 4 test tubes with 3 ml of acid.

- Fill 2 test tubes with 3 ml of base.

-  Add a squirt of universal indicator to each.

- Add different amounts of acid and base to make the colors of the rainbow (ROYGBIV).

Results:

Discussion: Neutralization is a process when acids and bases react to form salt and water. In a reaction to water, neutralization results in excess of hydrogen or hydroxide ions present in the solution. The pH of the neutralized solution depends on the strength of acid or base involved in it. We made the colors of the rainbow green on the pH scale is in the middle which means its neutral. Red on the pH scale is a very strong base but for red its an acid. ROYGBIV stands for all the colors in the rainbow R stands for red, O stands for orange, Y stands for yellow, G stand for green, B stands for blue, I stands for indigo a purplish-blue and V standing for violet.

The Beatles - Don't Let Me Down

Lyrics:

Don't let me down, don't let me down
Don't let me down, don't let me down

Nobody ever loved me like she does
Oh, she does, yeah, she does
And if somebody loved me like she do me
Oh, she do me, yes, she does

Don't let me down, don't let me down
Don't let me down, don't let me down

I'm in love for the first time
Don't you know it's gonna last
It's a love that lasts forever
It's a love that had no past

Don't let me down, don't let me down
Don't let me down, don't let me down

And from the first time that she really done me
Oh, she done me, she done me good
I guess nobody ever really done me
Oh, she done me, she done me good

Don't let me down, don't let me down
Don't let me down

Significance of WW1 - The Last Post

Chances are, you have heard the notes of the Last Post. The lone notes, played by a military bugler, trumpeting the notes of the song of the lost, the fallen, the dead. Though you may have no experience within the ranks of your nation’s military, and you may not have stepped foot upon a battlefield, the forefront of war zones, or even participated in military efforts, it is a song that resonates throughout the history of countries around the world.

The Last Post is played to mourn the dead, to honor those lost in wars, skirmishes, and battles both near to home and in far-flung locales. If you have heard its soft, melancholy, and mournful notes, it is a familiar to tune — most familiar to those who have served their country.

Science - Experiment

Aim - To make acid-base indicators using everyday substances

______________________________________________________________

Method - For cabbage and beetroot.

1. Chop the cabbage into small pieces until you have enough to  fill 2 cups.

2. Place the cabbage in a large beaker and add water to cover the cabbage.

3. Boil over a Bunsen burner for at least ten minutes for the color to leach out of the cabbage.

4. Filter out the plant material to obtain a red-purple-bluish colored liquid this liquid is at about pH 7.

5. Place in a small beaker and leave it to one side

6. Repeat this method for the beetroot.

Discussion: For this experiment, we did not really do task one because our science room was in a classroom so that means there will be no gas to plug in the Bunsen burner. At first for the Cranberry I thought the color would not change when we put the acid because it was that same color before we put some acids. but then as we move on to the Alkali, we put a little bit of that and it actually turns into a different color which is the color green. We did the same thing in the Beetroot, Turmeric, cabbage and tea all of them had a different color for the Acid and Alkali. we did this experiment to see the different indicators the ones we used were original indicators to see if stuff were an acid or base.

Conclusion: I really have enjoyed doing that experiment because it's just really satisfying to watch the colors change. I am looking more forward to the next science experiment we are attending.
