English

A paragraph describing how colour and lighting was used to create the two worlds in Coraline. They should structure their paragraph around four points.

  • Seeing the ‘real’ world for the first time

  • Cold, Dull colours, natural lighting

When we were first introduced to the real world it was a cold and rainy day. The colours we see in the real world when we are first introduced to it are Cold, bold and even frightening. When we were first introduced to the real world the colours were not as bright as we thought. But it is a normal lighting

  • Seeing the ‘other’ world for the first time

  • Warm, Bright colours, natural lighting

On the other hand when we were first introduced to the other world it was even more brighter than the real world. We are introduced to some even better colours and backgrounds then the real world. The colours are more warmer, brighter and sunnier.

  • The ‘other’ world after the button eyes are offered.

  • Cold, Bright artificial colours.

As we first noticed, the other world is a bit more better than the real world and that's because it was always sunny, warm and bright but the people there were a bit too nice and just a bit creepy. Because later on when coraline was having dinner they offered her a deal if she want everything in the other world forever she had to sew buttons into her eyes

  • The ‘real’ world after the resolution.

  • Still natural lighting but warmer and brighter than before

Coraline noticed everything she ever wanted was in the real world and not in the other world she noticed that family is worth more than anything in the universe and that you don’t need nice food to be happy. She noticed something along her journey and that was, Never take your parents for granted always love and cherish them while you have them.

SEXYYY Paragraph

-

S: In Coraline, the theme of camera angles and shots are  used effectively to show the theme looks can be deceiving

E: For example in this shot we are introduced to the ¨other¨ wybie, A high angle shot is used to show where he is standing below the door on the steps

X: This shows there is an imbalance of power, he is not as cheerful as in the regular world and he's changed from when we first met him.

Y: The director did this to show that the other world was made for coraline and that in her world he is not as talkative, annoying and powerful as before.

Y: This worked well with the lighting, as the use of warm lighting still makes him seem friendly, kind and non-threatening

Y: This aspect can be compared to the first time we meet him in the actual world where we first see him using a low angle shot, and dark lighting which makes him seem scarier, More frightening, intimidating and untrustworthy

S: In Coraline, shots are used to see the other person's perspective, used on looks can be deceiving this shot here is a medium angle shot.

E: For example this shot we are introduced to the doll that looks exactly like coraline is peeking around the corner just staring at her.

X: This shows the power that the doll has against coraline because the doll can see coraline clearly but coraline could barely see the doll until she looked at the door and saw the doll's head peeking around the corner.

Y: This director did this to show that it's not just from Coraline's perspective but from where the doll is this shows that the doll could be creepy, untruthful and more powerful than it was before.

Y: This didn't work as well as the other scenes because the colours are more darker and bolder then normal.

Y: This can be compared to the first time we saw the doll because it was more non-scary looking, less powerful and not as creepy.

S: In Coraline, camera angles and shots are used effectively to show the theme of looks can be deceiving, This shot in the 2009 film Coraline is a medium close up shot.

E: For example, in this shot we are introduced to the ¨Other¨ mother/Spider Demon's hand that was chopped off in the door when Coraline was closing it this shows that the ¨Other¨ mother's hand has more power because it is higher than coraline.

X: This shows there is an imbalance of power, the other mother is more non-threatening in the real world and she has changed into a more threatening mother.

Y: The director is trying to show that this world is most likely not for coraline but for lost souls and other demon-like things.

Y: This worked pretty well with the lighting skills, as the use of warm and this still makes the other mother look threatening, lost, and not trustworthy.

Y: This aspect can be compared to the first time we meet the other mother in the actual world where we first see her, she was nice but now she seems scarier, and more frightening.

S: In Coraline, camera angles and shots are used effectively to show the theme of looks can be deceiving and this here is a long and far shot.

E: For example, in this shot we are introduced to the hole behind the door entering into the other world with all those lost souls, lys and even the other parents that seem to be nice but are really untrustworthy, frightening and scary

X: This shows the lack of power because there's nothing in there but the other worlds door and the real worlds door until we see coraline later on come through the real worlds door to get to the other world/Side.

Y: The director is trying to show us the long and colourful hole to get to the other world where coraline was trapped to find her parents and her loved ones souls.

Y: This worked really well, because some of the colours are warm and some are dark, maybe it's a mix between the good and the bad words mixed together.

Y: This can be compared to the first time we saw the door that the real mother opened with a key and it was just a brick wall, but the first time we saw the hole to the other world, it was a different colour. It was brighter than it is in this photo.

Metal Drill Gauge

In metal this term we have been making a metal drill gauge. So first we made a acrylic version and how we made that was... We had to use this app called tinker cad, tinker cad is a app where you can create what ever you like in a digital world with different objects and shapes. It was really easy to use but it was frustrating when we had to convert the acrylic drill gauge from svg to dxf. What Mr. Rosker used to laser cut the acrylic drill gauges was a app called laser cutting V8 I think its something like that. But what Mr. Roskar does is he loads our svg to dxf then he laser cuts it and thats how we made our acrylic drill gauges.

What we did for the aluminium ones were first we put this engineers blue liquid on the back of our pieces of aluminium we got given. After we put the engineers blue liquid onto the aluminium we measured 15 - 20 cm on each side it looked like a cross until we made our diagonal measurement. Then once we made our measurements we had to use a drill press to put two holes in the middle of our aluminium. Once we did that  we got a piece of timber and used a coping saw to cut our lines it took just over a day to cut but once we finished that. We made little dots 10 cm and we had to make 10 measurements we had to use the drill press again but it had different gears we drilled into the 10 holes in each one we went up one gear and thats pretty much it.

Hope you enjoyed

Coraline - Theme Guide

Be grateful for what you have / looks can be deceiving

1. For example in the movie coraline she took her real parents for granted for a saying she liked her other parents because they could make better food, Spend more time worrying about her and play the piano. She liked what she saw before they made her a offer and that offer was if she wanted to continuously have good food and have more attention she had to sow buttons into her eyes but the thing is the other mother looked nice but really she was a Bad demon spider and we seen that when coraline tried to escape.

2. Looks can be deceiving for example when you have done something wrong and people look at you very weirdly but in the movie coraline when the other mother and other dad were giving coraline deceiving looks was when she passed on getting her eyes sown so she could stay with her other parents in that dimension forever the she got scared and tried to go to sleep but she couldn't.

3. When they first met the cat also known as charlie he was wet and looked scary for some people. But later on in the movie you could notice a change in the cat it wasn't trying to do anything bad it was actually trying to guide coraline to her right steps to get out of the mess she had made for a good minute she was struggling without some clues from the cat but then she noticed that he could talk which made her find everything a lot easier

4. When wybie, Coralines friend first met coraline was in the mud when she heard something creek in the woods and when she looked up someone was there watching her with a helmet and was on a bike she through something then he slid down the hill and to coraline at first coraline was scared but as he took off his mask she noticed he wasn't a bad person he was a good person but was also really annoying

Activity:

  1. Use the slides to explain which part of the blood does the following job:

    1. Carry oxygen to cells from lungs: Red blood cells

  1. Carry nutrients from your digestive system: Plasma
